A new welcoming two-storey entrance concourse is clear and calm. The use of well-detailed local buff brick gives the architecture a robust and tactile quality. A grand stair leads up to the first floor where the stunning main dining hall opens out. This large room has a personal scale, while the simple handling of the space and form allows the richness of the view out to enter and invigorate the hall.

The Barn is a high quality addition to this university campus that sets a bar for the realisation of the master plan. It is a thoughtful design that responds well to its users and brief, but also celebrates its location and will become the focal point in the campus’ day-to-day life.
