Gresford Architects with Nicolas Tye Architects for private client
Contract value: Confidential
GIA: 400m²

The client for this Passivhaus-standard house was as influential in the design as the architects, initiating sustainability strategies and now monitoring them daily. The modern look and layout are the work of Nicolas Tye Architects. Obtaining consent was a challenge, surrounded as it is by traditional suburban housing.

It offers a flat face to the front garden, largely screening it from neighbouring pitched roofs, garages and extensive drives. The internal layout is generous with a study, screening room, pantry and wide circulation spaces. Detailing and construction were overseen by Gresford Architects to achieve the levels of air tightness. There has been considerable investment in the fabric and technology of this house but at the same time it feels warm, fresh and open.
