Slimline, speedy entry system with a bespoke coating provides discreet, space-saving security in the reception area of a commercial building in Kensington
In 2022, work began on an office fit-out project in Kensington, London.
The building sits in an exclusive neighbourhood of apartments, penthouses and world-renowned art galleries, museums and concert halls.
For a new tenant on a 10-year lease, around 23,340 square foot of space across five floors was transformed.
The client wanted the design for the ground-floor reception area to set the tone for the rest of the building and make a lasting impression on visitors.
The project also required a robust visitor management and security system to control traffic flow and prevent unauthorised access.
Both had to be achieved within the limited space available in the reception area.
Meesons' access and security solution
A team from the entrance and access technology company Meesons was brought in and they recommended their EasyGate SG speed gates for the project.
The gates work as a visual deterrent for anyone considering unauthorised entry and tailgating is easily detected by the gate's 24 pairs of sensors distributed at waist and low level along the length of the cabinet.
For this project, the EasyGate SG speed gates were specified in a bespoke premium architectural metal finish from Bradleys. The client chose the firm's Oiled Bronze finish to complement the reception's minimalist and warm-toned interior design.
The glass security balustrade has ‘U’ profile aluminium shoes in the same Bradleys' finish, enhancing the aesthetics as well as the security. Also specified was a cantilever barrier (instead of a post-mounted option) for additional transparency.
The EasyGate SG's slimline frame made it the ideal choice for the reception area. Its quick opening and closing wings seamlessly handle throughput and help prevent crowding in a restricted space.
From the marble floor lobby up to the private roof terraces, this office fit-out project has elevated the everyday working lives of the building users.
