Fiandre Architectural Surfaces has launched a new porcelain surfaces range called Il Veneziano, which offers a modern take on aritsan-crafted Venetian seminato terrazzo floors.

Traditional Venetian seminato is created by mixing marble and crushed stone processing waste with lime or cement to create highly original floors without wasting raw materials. The Fiandre ceramics collection uses full-bodied technology to bring the terrazzo to life through the whole tile rather than just the surface.

Full-bodied ceramics are invaluable in high-traffic areas where intensive exposure to mechanical stress can lead to wear and tear. They are ideal for stations, airports, art galleries, shopping malls, public places or buildings and can make statement spaces in private homes.

Il Veneziano ceramic surfaces are well suited to special manufacturing processes (rounded, 45-degree, polished or bevelled edges), mid-tile rounded or contoured waterjet cutting and surface treatments such as sandblasting or laser cutting. They are non-absorbent, offer chemical and mechanical resistance, long-term durability and performance and an incomparable aesthetic appearance.

Colours are inspired by traditional surfaces but have a contemporary twist: three warm shades (Seminato Beige, Seminato Miele, Seminato Bruno) and three cooler (Seminato Candido, Seminato Argento, Seminato Nero). Two finishes are available: matt-effect Natural and mirror-effect Polished.

Il Veneziano is available in classic formats 120x60cm, 60x60cm, 150x75cm and 75x75cm, and also in sizes 120x270cm and 120x120cm formats to help eliminate material waste: the 120x270cm (6mm thick) format conforms to the minimum ceiling height for habitable rooms; the 120x120cm (10mm thick) is compatible with the standard dimensions of shower trays in many countries.

To create safer working and living spaces, the ceramics can be treated with an eco Active Surface. This is a photocatalytic, antibacterial, antiviral, self-cleaning ceramic treatment developed with the Department of Chemistry at the University of Milan and patented by Iris Ceramica Group. Active Surfaces is certified to ISO standards.

Fiandre Architectural Surfaces has an experienced team of experts on hand to help with specialist customised projects that require Il Veneziano in bespoke marble and stone mixes, colours and format sizes.
