House Ballyscullion is located within Ballyscullion Park on the shores of Lough Beg, mid-Ulster. The park was established in the late 18th century for a dwelling that was never completed. A later 1840s house commands the demesne, overlooking the lough.

This client bought 40ha of the listed parkland and set about building a house – a process that has taken ten years. The home is deferential, taking the form of agricultural outbuildings with handmade grey bricks and zinc roof. The absence of formal gardens gives the sense of the house embracing the parkland, with the relationship working both ways as inside there is a connection to the outdoors at every turn. What could be viewed as a little austere from the outside has a wonderful warmth inside, and it is beautifully detailed.
