Externally the new building has a presence of calm order, a civic and open face that responds well to its location at the edge of the school grounds and continuing the seamless transition between school and town. The “school side” of the building continues this with a simple but carefully considered palette of materials. Combined with the new courtyard space to its front, these give the Science Centre an overall collegiate feel. This is then invigorated with a sense of fun and animation.

Internally the layout has been carefully considered to ensure that the building is always engaging, tempting you to explore. The wide open corridors give cross views of the glazed classrooms so the activity and function of the building can be read and understood. The quality of material, detailing and craft never falters.
