These 10 award winning projects are a reaffirmation of the ability of architecture at its best to positively influence the lives of individuals and communities.  The judges were impressed with what is being made in Scotland – not just the architecture that is being produced but what the architecture is producing: new models of education, innovation and invention leading to enhanced social exchange and collaboration in the workplace, exciting housing to reflect new patterns of living, and dynamic models for the production of architecture itself.

A common feature of the success of the buildings was the critical role played by visionary clients in unleashing the creativity of talented architects.  Modern procurement methods would benefit from a realisation of the importance of such relationships.
