Sir John Soane Museum, Holborn

Delightfully academic and fastidious as well as an example of admirable teamwork

Julian Harrap Architects for Sir John Soane Museum

Contract value: Undisclosed

Internal area: 83m²

This is a delightfully academic and fastidious restoration project of Sir John Soane’s home and aesthetic testbed. The exhaustive research basis and the level of attention to detail is quite remarkable. Importantly, almost no elements of the restoration were conjectural and the strong working relationships developed with manufacturers of the wallpapers and glass etc, as well as the craftsmen who carried out the project, are admirable.
