By one of the new wave of young London practices, TNG (The New Generation) is what might once have been called a youth club. The result of extensive public consultation, its frame is of CLT while its external cladding is mostly tough polycarbonate profiled sheeting exposing usually hidden breather membrane and battens. The same profile is used for Ductal concrete cladding to lower levels. Despite design-build and ‘a savage bout of value engineering’ it is crisply detailed, engagingly designed and well built. ‘A very mature piece of work from a very young practice.’
