Nottingham One serves as an example of how high density urban housing can be provided in the city, hopefully inspiring other councils, housing associations, local developers, contractors and regeneration agencies to be equally ambitious.

Set along Nottingham’s canal waterside, the layering of the building and use of terraces breaks down the mass of the development and creates the sense of place that was part of the City Council's strategic vision, providing all tenants and users with access to external social spaces.

Situated between Southside Regeneration Zone and the historic Lace Market Conservation Area, Nottingham One responds to and enhances the character of these two distinctive locales. The high quality of the scheme, which provides a tenure-blind mixture of social rented, private rented, shared ownership and owner occupied apartments, was particularly praised.
